British Tourist Dies in Dive Boat Fire off Koh Tao, Thailand

Alexandra Clarke, 26, was trapped in a restroom as a fire, reportedly caused by equipment failure, engulfed the vessel carrying 22 people.

Alexandra Clarke, a 26-year-old British backpacker, died in a fire aboard the dive boat Davy Jones Locker near Koh Tao, Thailand.
The fire is believed to have started in the engine room and spread quickly, possibly fueled by compressed air tanks and onboard fuel.
Clarke was reportedly trapped in the restroom at the rear of the boat when the fire broke out, shortly before a distress call was made at 9:25am local time.
All other passengers, including 15 tourists, two crew members, and four diving instructors, were safely evacuated by nearby vessels.
Thai authorities are investigating the incident, with preliminary reports suggesting equipment malfunction as the cause of the blaze.
