- Gavin Creel's death was confirmed by his partner, Alex Temple Ward, and was due to metastatic melanotic peripheral nerve sheath sarcoma.
- Creel was diagnosed with the rare and aggressive cancer in July 2024 and transitioned to hospice care at home after treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering.
- Creel's Broadway career included notable roles in 'Thoroughly Modern Millie', 'Hair', 'She Loves Me', and 'Into the Woods'.
- An outpouring of condolences came from fellow actors and celebrities, including Bette Midler, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Sutton Foster.
