Broncos Fire Coach Michael Wilhoite Following Arrest for Assaulting Police Officer

The Denver Broncos terminated outside linebackers coach Michael Wilhoite after his February arrest for allegedly punching an officer at Denver International Airport.

Michael Wilhoite, 38, was arrested on February 23 and charged with second-degree assault, obstruction, and criminal mischief after an altercation with a police officer at Denver International Airport.
The incident began when Wilhoite left his vehicle unattended in a drop-off lane, leading to a confrontation in which he allegedly cursed at and punched the officer.
The officer reportedly used a taser on Wilhoite during the altercation, and Wilhoite was subsequently taken to jail and released on bond after a court hearing.
Broncos head coach Sean Payton announced the decision to part ways with Wilhoite, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations and the need for the organization to take appropriate action.
Wilhoite, a former NFL linebacker, had been on the Broncos' coaching staff since 2023 and previously worked with Payton on the New Orleans Saints.
