Broncos' RB Javonte Williams expected to return for training camp following '21 knee injury

  • Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams is expected to be ready for the start of training camp after missing most of last season with a serious right knee injury.
  • The Broncos signed veteran free agent Samaje Perine to provide depth at the running back position.
  • Williams tore his ACL, LCL, and posterolateral corner in a Week 4 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
  • The Broncos also have three other running backs on their roster, including Tony Jones Jr., one of six former Saints players the Broncos have signed since head coach Sean Payton was hired.
  • Payton is keeping a close watch on the running backs at the rookie minicamp this weekend, including undrafted college free agents Emanuel Wilson and Jaleel McLaughlin, and Jacques Patrick, who has two games of NFL experience.
