Bronx Teenager Fatally Stabbed in Manhattan's Flatiron District

A person of interest is in custody, but no charges have been filed as the city grapples with a rise in knife-related violence.

  • Denzel Bimpey, an 18-year-old Bronx resident, was fatally stabbed multiple times in Manhattan’s Flatiron District around 10:40 p.m. on Friday.
  • Police discovered Bimpey after following a bloody trail on Park Avenue South that ended outside the Cure medical laboratory near East 25th Street.
  • Bimpey was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, but paramedics were unable to revive him.
  • A person of interest was taken into custody following the incident, but has not been charged.
  • The fatal stabbing occurred amid a citywide increase in such incidents, with NYPD data showing a 6% rise in stabbings and slashings across the five boroughs from last year, totaling nearly 5,000.
