Bundestagsverwaltung Investigates €2.35 Million AfD Campaign Donation

The probe focuses on allegations of an illegal strawman arrangement involving a German billionaire and an Austrian politician.

The Bundestagsverwaltung has launched a formal review into a €2.35 million donation to the AfD during its recent election campaign.
The donation, reported as a gift from Austrian ex-FPÖ politician Gerhard Dingler, is suspected to have originated from German billionaire Henning Conle via a strawman arrangement.
Under German law, political parties are prohibited from accepting donations over €500 from unidentifiable or third-party sources.
If the allegations are confirmed, the AfD could face penalties of up to three times the donation amount, approximately €7 million.
The AfD maintains it acted in compliance with legal requirements, while both Conle and Dingler have not responded to media inquiries.
