BYD Introduces EVs with Roof-Mounted DJI Drones for Aerial Filming

The Chinese automaker's new feature allows drones to launch autonomously from moving vehicles, enhancing travel experiences with real-time aerial footage.

BYD partnered with drone manufacturer DJI to equip its EV models with roof-mounted drones that can autonomously launch and follow the car for aerial filming.
The drone system, named Lingyuan, is available as an option for BYD's mainstream EVs, including the Sealion 07 hybrid and Tang L electric SUV, for an additional $2,200.
The drones can take off and land while the car is in motion at speeds up to 33 mph and can follow the vehicle at a distance of up to 2 kilometers.
Lingyuan's design incorporates sci-fi-inspired gull-wing doors that reveal the drone's launch platform, adding to the futuristic appeal of BYD's vehicles.
Currently available only in China, the feature highlights BYD's push for innovation in the competitive EV market and positions the company as a leader in integrating advanced technology into vehicles.
