BYD Strengthens Global Lead with Record Profits and Innovations

The Chinese automaker's 33% profit surge and advanced technologies position it ahead of Tesla in revenue and Volkswagen in the Chinese market.

BYD reported a 33% increase in net profit to 40.3 billion Yuan (€5.1 billion) and a 29% rise in revenue to approximately €99 billion in 2024.

BYD overtook Volkswagen in 2023 as the top-selling automaker in China, ending Volkswagen's decades-long dominance in the region.
In 2024, BYD surpassed Tesla in revenue, despite Tesla maintaining a slight edge in global fully electric vehicle sales with 1.79 million units.
Recent technological advancements include a rapid charging system providing 400 km of range in five minutes and advanced driver assistance systems in lower-cost models.
