De Castro tricked hotel staff into giving him access to the victims' room, stealing six suitcases of valuables.
He attempted to sell the stolen items in Miami, falsely claiming they were found in a box belonging to his late mother.
De Castro has been in federal custody since August 2023 and awaits a sentencing hearing after an April 30 evidentiary hearing to determine the loss amount.
