California to Deploy Law Enforcement Task Force in San Francisco Amid Rising Fentanyl Overdoses

In order to address rising overdose deaths due to fentanyl, Gov. Newsom is sending the CHP and National Guard to San Francisco.
The CHP will help local police investigate drug trafficking, train officers, and patrol neighborhoods.
The National Guard will provide background support and criminal analysis.
The partnership between state and local authorities was arranged by Newsom and SF Mayor Breed.
The goal is to disrupt major drug operations and reduce the flow of illegal drugs, especially fentanyl, into the city.
