Casino Giants Caesars and MGM Hit by Cyberattacks; Customer Data Compromised

Caesars Entertainment and MGM Resorts International were recently targeted in cyberattacks by a hacker group called Scattered Spider.
The attack on Caesars resulted in the theft of customer data including Social Security numbers; MGM's systems were disrupted but no data breach reported.
Scattered Spider uses social engineering techniques to gain access to systems and has targeted other hospitality and telecom companies.
Caesars paid tens of millions in ransom to prevent stolen data release while MGM has not paid ransom demands.
The FBI is investigating the attacks which have raised concerns over casino cybersecurity and caused stock prices to fall for both casino operators.
