Child Killed and Another Injured After Car Drives Onto Rugby Pitch in Cumbria

Police have arrested a man in his 40s on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in what is being treated as an isolated incident.

A black BMW i40 drove onto a rugby pitch at Kendal Rugby Union Football Club, striking two children shortly before 5pm on Wednesday.
One child died from their injuries, while the other is being treated by paramedics.
The driver, a man in his 40s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Cumbria Police confirmed the incident is being treated as isolated and stated there is no indication it was terror-related.
The rugby club has temporarily closed its facilities and is cooperating with authorities as investigations are ongoing.
