China Reasserts Sovereignty Claims Over Taiwan as Tensions Rise

China's Foreign Minister stated that both Taiwan and mainland China belong to Beijing and it will uphold its sovereignty.
The minister accused Taiwan's president and allies of being "separatist forces" trying to disrupt cross-strait relations.
The remarks came after China held military drills near Taiwan following Taiwan's president visiting the U.S.
Taiwan rejected China's claims and said Beijing was the one disrupting peace.
The dispute highlights rising tensions between the democratic island and its much larger neighbor.
