CN Rail to Relocate Jasper Operations to Hinton, Impacting 200 Workers

Canadian National Railway Co. plans to move its operations from Jasper to Hinton, Alberta, approximately 100 kilometers away.
The relocation is set to begin in September 2025 and aims to improve network efficiency by minimizing train stops.

The decision comes after devastating wildfires in July destroyed a third of Jasper, displacing many of its 4,800 residents.
Union representatives have criticized the move, citing further economic damage to Jasper, where rail is a major industry after tourism.
