Colorado Man Loses Both Legs in Wood Chipper Accident on First Day of Work

John O'Neill, 33, survived a severe accident after being pulled into a wood chipper due to a court-ordered ankle monitor snagging on a branch.

O'Neill was just 15 minutes into his first day when a branch caught his ankle monitor, dragging him into the machine.
Despite losing both legs, O'Neill credits his coworkers for saving his life by using makeshift tourniquets until emergency services arrived.
Doctors replaced nearly all of O'Neill's blood after he lost more than 15 pints from the accident.
Following the accident, O'Neill plans to use prosthetics and continue his involvement in sobriety and recovery advocacy.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist with O'Neill's medical expenses, raising $26,000 of its $30,000 goal.
