Connecticut Officer Suspended and Arrested After Off-Duty Altercation

The incident, which involved the officer punching a motorist for honking, has led to mandatory de-escalation training and removal from school assignment.

A Connecticut police officer, Corporal Allen Ganter, was suspended for five days and arrested on assault charges after punching a motorist, Thomas Brocuglio, during an off-duty altercation.
The incident, captured on dashcam video, occurred after Brocuglio honked at Ganter for not turning right at a red light in December 2023.
Ganter, who also served as a school resource officer, was removed from his assignment and is required to attend mandatory de-escalation training for three years.
Court records indicate Ganter was placed in a probation program and is due back in court next January.
The Meriden Police Department conducted an internal affairs investigation, finding Ganter violated department rules of conduct.
