Republican Bryan Slaton, a Texas state representative known for sponsoring far-right legislation, resigned after a committee found he had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 19-year-old intern, gave her alcohol, and asked others to keep it quiet.
Slaton did not address the allegations in his resignation letter and previously called them "outrageous" and "false" through his lawyer.
The committee unanimously recommended expelling Slaton from the Texas House over the allegations.
Slaton introduced bills banning children from drag shows and giving tax cuts to heterosexual couples with children.
Republican leaders in Texas welcomed Slaton's resignation and said legislators should face consequences for misconduct.
