Convicted Killer Sentenced to Life Without Parole for Brutal Murder of Neighbor

Brian Whitelock, previously jailed for double murder, killed his 71-year-old neighbor less than a year after his second release from prison.

Brian Whitelock, 57, was sentenced to a whole life order for the 2022 murder of Wendy Buckney, a 71-year-old neighbor who had employed him for odd jobs.
Whitelock was previously convicted in 2001 for the murder of Nicholas Morgan and the manslaughter of his brother Glen, crimes for which he was initially sentenced to life in prison.
The court heard that Whitelock carried out a prolonged and brutal attack on Buckney using multiple weapons, inflicting severe injuries and sexually assaulting her.
Whitelock was released on parole in 2018 and again in 2021, despite warnings from his first victim’s family that he posed a continued threat to the public.
A serious further offense review is underway to examine the circumstances of Whitelock's release and subsequent crimes, with findings to be shared with Buckney’s family.
