Convicted Killer Sentenced to Life Without Parole for Brutal Murder of Neighbor

Brian Whitelock, previously jailed for double murder, killed his 71-year-old neighbor less than a year after his second release from prison.

  • Brian Whitelock, 57, was sentenced to a whole life order for the 2022 murder of Wendy Buckney, a 71-year-old neighbor who had employed him for odd jobs.
  • Whitelock was previously convicted in 2001 for the murder of Nicholas Morgan and the manslaughter of his brother Glen, crimes for which he was initially sentenced to life in prison.
  • The court heard that Whitelock carried out a prolonged and brutal attack on Buckney using multiple weapons, inflicting severe injuries and sexually assaulting her.
  • Whitelock was released on parole in 2018 and again in 2021, despite warnings from his first victim’s family that he posed a continued threat to the public.
  • A serious further offense review is underway to examine the circumstances of Whitelock's release and subsequent crimes, with findings to be shared with Buckney’s family.
