Cyber Airman Leaks Classified Documents for Months on Public Discord Channel

Air National Guardsman Jack Teixeira shared sensitive intelligence for longer and more widely than previously known, posting classified documents on a Discord channel with 600 members.
Teixeira improperly accessed and shared details about Russian and Ukrainian military activities, intelligence operations, and U.S. aid to Ukraine in his role as an IT specialist.
The leaked information was posted as early as October 2021, months before Teixeira's arrest, and included casualties, spy activities, and aid updates.
The exposure raises concerns about protection of classified data and vetting of personnel with security clearances within the Pentagon and intelligence community.
Teixeira faces charges under the Espionage Act for unauthorized copying, transmission, and removal of sensitive defense materials, in the most serious breach since WikiLeaks published hundreds of thousands of classified documents.
