Deadly Manhattan Parking Garage Collapse Prompts City to Close Four Other Garages Deemed Unsafe

The New York City Buildings Department ordered four parking garages to close after inspecting 78 garages and finding serious structural issues.

The garage in Battery Park City was partially closed due to corroded concrete and rusted steel.
The garage in Chinatown was partially closed due to cracked concrete and rusted steel beams.
Garages in Coney Island and Park Slope were partially or fully closed due to deteriorating conditions.
