Delhi Police Launches 'Shishtachar' Squads to Combat Eve-Teasing

The initiative will deploy plain-clothed officers and conduct surprise checks to enhance women's safety across identified hotspots in the capital.

Each district in Delhi will have a dedicated 15-member 'Shishtachar' squad to prevent, deter, and respond to instances of harassment against women.
The squads will focus on identified hotspots and vulnerable areas, with rosters approved weekly by senior police officials.
Plain-clothed female officers will be deployed to conduct surprise checks, particularly in public transport and other high-risk zones.
Collaboration with Resident Welfare Associations, Market Welfare Associations, and local volunteers will help identify additional vulnerable areas and enhance vigilance.
The squads are instructed to prioritize victim protection and law enforcement while avoiding the imposition of personal or cultural morality.
