Delhi Unveils Historic ₹1 Lakh Crore Budget Focusing on Education, Welfare, and Sustainability

The ₹1 lakh crore budget for FY26 marks a historic 31.5% increase over the previous year, reflecting the BJP's governance priorities after its February 2025 electoral victory in Delhi.
Education initiatives include ₹100 crore for new 'CM Shri Schools,' ₹7.5 crore for free laptops to 1,200 Class 10 students, and ₹100 crore to transform 60,000 classrooms into smart classrooms.
₹500 crore has been allocated for Yamuna cleaning and sewer upgrades, alongside ₹9,000 crore to improve water supply and sanitation systems in the capital.
Women's welfare programs feature prominently, with ₹5,100 crore set aside for monthly aid to women, 50,000 new CCTV cameras for safety, and free bus travel cards replacing the pink ticket system.
Other highlights include ₹500 crore for an education hub in Narela, ₹21 crore for 100 multilingual language labs, and ₹20 crore for a new entrepreneurial training scheme aimed at fostering a business mindset among students.
