All 80 people on board, including 76 passengers and 4 crew members, were unharmed, and the plane landed safely on its second attempt.
Delta Airlines has apologized to passengers and removed the aircraft from service for maintenance evaluation.
The FAA is actively investigating the incident, which did not disrupt airport operations at LaGuardia.
