Denali National Park Employee Dies in Backcountry Avalanche

Denali National Park and Preserve employee Eric Walter died while skiing after triggering an avalanche.
The avalanche occurred near the park's entrance on an unnamed north-facing slope.
Responding rangers found Walter's unoccupied truck parked about a mile away from the avalanche site.
The park's mountaineering team determined that Walter died in the avalanche.
Denali National Park Superintendent Brooke Merrell expressed condolences to Walter's family.
