DeSantis to headline South Carolina event days after first GOP presidential debate

DeSantis will keynote the Faith & Freedom BBQ in South Carolina, the state's largest annual Republican gathering.
The barbecue takes place less than a week after the first 2024 GOP presidential primary debate that DeSantis participated in.
DeSantis will speak to GOP activists and voters in an early primary state where he could make his case to be the nominee.
The event has previously featured Republican leaders like Pence, Pompeo and Cruz as speakers.
DeSantis' poll numbers have been declining in South Carolina, ranking behind Trump and Haley.
