Satish Salian has petitioned the Bombay High Court, alleging that his daughter, Disha Salian, was raped and murdered, and that a political cover-up protected influential individuals, including Aaditya Thackeray.
The petition calls for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe and the registration of an FIR against Aaditya Thackeray, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and former Maharashtra minister.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders, including Aaditya Thackeray and Sanjay Raut, have denied the allegations, calling them politically motivated attempts to defame the Thackeray family.
The case has reignited public and political discussions due to its proximity to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, which occurred six days after Disha Salian's death in 2020.
Critics of the Mumbai Police investigation claim it ignored critical evidence and prematurely classified Salian's death as accidental; a 2023 SIT probe yielded no significant findings.
