Authorities Await DNA Test Results as Police Suspect McDonnell May Have Drowned

A dismembered body, believed to be that of missing Irish filmmaker Ross McDonnell, was found on a beach in New York City.
McDonnell, 44, was last seen on November 4, leaving his apartment in Brooklyn. His bicycle was later found at Fort Tilden Beach in Queens.
Authorities are awaiting DNA test results to confirm the identity of the body. The cause of death is yet to be determined by the Medical Examiner's office.
Police suspect McDonnell may have drowned while swimming and that his body was dismembered by ocean hazards.
McDonnell, originally from Dublin, was an Emmy-winning filmmaker known for his work on the Showtime series 'The Trade' and a 2021 COVID-19 documentary 'The First Wave.'
