Disney Japan Appoints Tamotsu Hiiro as New Managing Director
Hiiro succeeds Carol Choi, who led Disney+ to prominence in Japan and will continue in regional executive roles.
- Tamotsu Hiiro, with over 35 years of leadership experience, has been named managing director of Disney Japan, effective March 28, 2025.
- Hiiro previously served as president and CEO of McDonald’s Japan and president of Johnson & Johnson Japan, bringing extensive market expertise to the role.
- He will report directly to Luke Kang, president of Disney’s Asia Pacific operations, and focus on expanding Disney’s entertainment businesses in Japan.
- Carol Choi, the outgoing managing director, will retain regional responsibilities, including original content strategy and marketing for Disney’s APAC division.
- Under Choi’s leadership, Disney+ became a leading streaming platform in Japan, and a pipeline for Japanese original content was successfully established.
