Disney Japan Appoints Tamotsu Hiiro as New Managing Director

Hiiro succeeds Carol Choi, who led Disney+ to prominence in Japan and will continue in regional executive roles.

Tamotsu Hiiro, with over 35 years of leadership experience, has been named managing director of Disney Japan, effective March 28, 2025.
Hiiro previously served as president and CEO of McDonald’s Japan and president of Johnson & Johnson Japan, bringing extensive market expertise to the role.
He will report directly to Luke Kang, president of Disney’s Asia Pacific operations, and focus on expanding Disney’s entertainment businesses in Japan.
Carol Choi, the outgoing managing director, will retain regional responsibilities, including original content strategy and marketing for Disney’s APAC division.
Under Choi’s leadership, Disney+ became a leading streaming platform in Japan, and a pipeline for Japanese original content was successfully established.
