DRI and Gujarat ATS Seize ₹80 Crore in Smuggled Gold, Luxury Items in Ahmedabad Raid

The joint operation uncovered nearly 88 kg of gold bars with foreign markings, luxury watches, jewellery, and ₹1.37 crore in cash, highlighting efforts to combat international smuggling networks.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) conducted a joint raid on March 17, 2025, in Ahmedabad, recovering 87.92 kg of smuggled gold valued at ₹80 crore.
The operation also uncovered 11 high-end luxury watches, including brands like Patek Philippe and Jacob & Co, alongside 19.66 kg of jewellery studded with diamonds and other precious stones.
Cash amounting to ₹1.37 crore was seized during the search of a residential flat in Ahmedabad's Paldi area, based on intelligence inputs from the Gujarat ATS.
The majority of the recovered gold bars bore foreign markings, indicating their smuggled origin and links to international smuggling syndicates.
The raid is part of broader DRI efforts to dismantle organized smuggling networks, with further investigations into the valuation of seized items and syndicate connections ongoing.
