Overview

  • Mary Fong Lau, 80, is accused of transferring three San Francisco properties to Nevada LLCs following a wrongful death lawsuit filed by victims’ relatives.
  • The lawsuit, filed under the Uniform Voidable Transactions Act, seeks to void the transfers and prevent further asset moves by Lau.
  • The crash in March 2024 killed Diego Cardoso de Oliveira, Matilde Moncada Ramos Pinto, and their two young children at a West Portal bus stop.
  • Prosecutors ruled out mechanical failure, citing excessive speed and gross negligence as causes of the collision, and charged Lau with four counts of felony vehicular manslaughter.
  • Lau, who has pleaded not guilty, remains free on bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in July 2025 on the criminal charges.
