Elkhorn Man Charged in Fatal Shooting of Wisconsin Sports Bar Couple

A 57-year-old Elkhorn man, Thomas A. Routt, has been charged with the fatal shootings of Gina and Emerson Weingart in a Wisconsin sports bar, motivated by robbery.
Routt, a convicted felon barred from possessing firearms, faces charges including first-degree intentional homicide and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The incident occurred around 12:10 a.m. on Feb. 1, with Routt allegedly taking $120 to $140 from the bar's open cash drawer after the shootings.
An eyewitness managed to escape the scene unharmed, and police later recovered the 9 mm handgun Routt used in the trash near Lake Como.
The Weingarts, married in June 2023, are remembered through a GoFundMe page for memorial services that has raised nearly $13,000.
