Elon Musk Reinstates Alex Jones on X Following User Poll
The decision comes a year after Musk vowed not to let Jones return and coincides with the 11th anniversary of the Sandy Hook shooting.
- Elon Musk, owner of the social media platform X, reinstated far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones on the platform, a year after vowing never to let him return.
- Musk's decision followed a poll he conducted on X, with about 70% of the two million users who responded supporting Jones' reinstatement.
- Jones was previously banned from the platform – then known as Twitter – in 2018 for violating its 'abusive behavior policy.'
- Jones, who claimed that the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting was a hoax, was ordered by a judge last year to pay more than a billion dollars in damages to the victims' families.
- Jones' reinstatement on X comes the same week as the 11th anniversary of the Sandy Hook shooting.
