Despite initial issues with client synchronization, the testnet launch was successful and the chain is finalizing.
The Dencun upgrade is part of a phased approach, with further tests on the Sepolia and Holesky testnets planned before a mainnet release expected in Q1 2024.
The upgrade is the biggest for Ethereum since last year's 'merge', which marked the transition from a proof-of-work to a proof-of-stake blockchain.
