EU Adopts 15th Sanctions Package Targeting Russia and Global Supporters

The new measures intensify pressure on Russia's war efforts by sanctioning individuals, entities, and shadow networks across multiple countries.

  • The European Union's 15th sanctions package targets 84 individuals and entities, including Russian officials, defense firms, and energy sector leaders.
  • For the first time, fully-fledged sanctions were imposed on Chinese companies and individuals accused of supplying drone and microelectronic components to Russia's military.
  • The sanctions list includes North Korean defense officials and entities in India, Iran, Serbia, and the UAE for aiding Russia in circumventing restrictions.
  • Fifty-two additional ships in Russia's 'shadow fleet,' used to bypass oil sanctions and transport stolen Ukrainian grain, are now banned from EU ports and services.
  • The EU also sanctioned Russian intelligence agents and entities linked to hybrid attacks, including cyber strikes and disinformation campaigns targeting Europe.
