EU Extends Ban on Some Ukrainian Agricultural Exports Despite Complaints
- Poland's agriculture minister received a draft regulation from the European Commission extending a ban on imports of some Ukrainian food products until September 15.
- The ban applies to wheat, maize, rapeseed, and sunflower seed within five countries - Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia.
- The European Commission directive will extend the ban on Ukrainian agricultural products, but apply to a smaller number of products, including durum wheat, hybrid corn varieties, spelt, and seed.
- The European Commission has extended an arrangement allowing five of Ukraine's neighbours to ban domestic sales of Ukrainian grains while allowing the grains to transit their countries until September 15.
- The EU imposed restrictions on imports of Ukrainian wheat, corn, rapeseed, and sunflower until 5 June to reduce oversupply of grain in Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia.
