William Braddock, a former Republican candidate, was charged by the DOJ for threatening to kill Rep. Anna Paulina Luna during the 2022 primary.
Braddock allegedly made the threats during a phone call in June 2021, claiming he had access to a 'Russian-Ukrainian hit squad.'
After the threats surfaced, Braddock fled to the Philippines but was recently deported back to the United States to face charges.
The DOJ's Election Threats Task Force, along with the FBI and St. Petersburg Police Department, investigated the case.
Rep. Luna has reported a rise in death threats and continues to advocate against political violence and harassment, especially towards female politicians.
