Ex-Met Officer Faces Multiple Charges Including Rape and Sexual Assault

Mark Tyrrell, formerly of the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, is accused of serious offenses involving a vulnerable woman he met on duty.

Tyrrell, 55, is charged with 21 offenses, including two counts of rape and 15 of sexual assault.
The alleged crimes occurred between 2017 and 2023 and involve a single victim.
Tyrrell also faces charges of perverting the course of justice and misconduct in public office.
Independent Office for Police Conduct initiated the investigation in April 2023.
Tyrrell retired last year amid the investigation and will appear in court on September 4.
