Ex-Michigan Coach Matt Weiss Pleads Not Guilty to Federal Hacking Charges

Weiss faces 24 federal charges for allegedly accessing private accounts of over 3,300 student-athletes, as a class-action lawsuit accuses him and others of negligence.

Weiss is accused of hacking into the accounts of over 3,300 student-athletes to obtain intimate images, using credentials with elevated access to university databases.
A class-action lawsuit was filed by two former Michigan athletes against Weiss, the University of Michigan, and Keffer Development Services, alleging gross negligence in safeguarding sensitive data.
The lawsuit claims Weiss accessed personal and medical information of more than 150,000 athletes from databases maintained by Keffer Development Services, spanning over 100 colleges and universities.
The University of Michigan has declined to comment on the lawsuit, stating it has not yet been served, while Weiss has been released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
