Ex-Teacher Faces Multiple Sexual Abuse Charges, Accused of Assaulting Over 50 Students

Prosecutors allege Bay Shore School District turned a blind eye; Bernagozzi could face up to 25 years per charge if convicted.

Former US teacher, Thomas Bernagozzi, has been accused of sexually abusing over 50 students during his tenure from 1970 to 2000.
Prosecutors claim that the Bay Shore School District was aware of the abuse and failed to take action.
Since his arrest last month, 11 new victims have come forward, in addition to the 45 individual lawsuits already filed under the New York State Child Victims Act.
Evidence found in Bernagozzi's home, including photos of hundreds of students, has provided substantial corroboration for the allegations.
If convicted, Bernagozzi faces up to 25 years in prison for each charge.
