Four individuals sustained injuries, including two with minor physical injuries and two who suffered shock; all have since been treated and released.
Authorities issued a temporary warning for nearby residents to stay indoors and close windows due to heavy smoke, but the warning was lifted by early morning.
Firefighters allowed the affected building to burn in a controlled manner, and the fire has since been extinguished, though investigations into the cause are ongoing.
The Bayernoil refinery, one of two in Bavaria, processes over 10 million tons of crude oil annually and is the largest refinery operator in the region.
