Falcons' Coaching Search Continues with Belichick's Candidacy Cooling

Despite two interviews, Belichick's chances seem to have diminished as the Falcons continue to consider other notable candidates.

  • Atlanta Falcons' coaching search continues with Bill Belichick's candidacy cooling off in the past week. The Falcons have interviewed 14 candidates so far, including former Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel and Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.
  • Belichick, the former New England Patriots head coach, has met with the Falcons twice and is the only candidate known to have interviewed twice for the position and to have met with the entire administrative team.
  • Despite the cooling off, there are still speculations that the Falcons' interview process is simply about wading through all the NFL's bureaucracy on the way to an inevitable conclusion with Belichick.
  • However, multiple league sources have suggested that assuming it's “Belichick or bust” is inaccurate. The Falcons have also met with other notable candidates like Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, and Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan.
  • The Falcons' coaching search is expected to continue into the next week, with more interviews and possibly more names being announced.
