Family of Three Found Dead at Remote Colorado Campsite While Attempting to Live 'Off the Grid'

The deceased were identified as two adult sisters and one of the sister's 14-year-old son.
The cause of death is believed to be starvation, freezing temperatures, or carbon monoxide poisoning over the winter months.
The family started camping in the area in July 2022 with plans to live self-sufficiently in the wilderness.
Their remains were discovered in July 2023 by a hiker near the campsite, which contained empty food cans and survival literature.
Relatives were unaware of the family's plans to live off-grid and no missing persons report had been filed.
