Fatal Explosion at Rockport Steel Claims Life of Welder

Sean Rancourt, 39, died while welding a diesel fuel tank; investigation ongoing.

The explosion occurred around 2:50 p.m. while Rancourt was welding on a diesel fuel tank.
Emergency responders from Rockland, Camden, and Northeast Ambulance attempted life-saving measures.
Rancourt's body has been sent to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation by the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office.
