Father Charged in Connection with 10-Year-Old's Fatal Shooting in Sacramento
Prosecutors hold Arkete Davis solely responsible, while his son, initially arrested, will not face charges.
- Arkete Davis, 53, the father of a 10-year-old boy who allegedly shot and killed another 10-year-old, has been charged with multiple offenses including child endangerment, having a firearm as a felon, and destroying evidence.
- The 10-year-old son, who initially was arrested on suspicion of murder, will not face charges as prosecutors believe the sole criminal liability lies with Davis.
- The incident occurred when the boy found his father's loaded gun in a car, bragged about his father owning a gun, and then shot the victim, Keith Frierson, also 10.
- Davis is accused of trying to cover up the crime by disposing of the loaded gun in a trash can.
- Davis, who has a criminal history over the past 30 years, could face up to 10 years and four months in prison if a great bodily injury enhancement is added to the child endangerment charge.
