Father Charged in Connection with 10-Year-Old's Fatal Shooting in Sacramento

Prosecutors hold Arkete Davis solely responsible, while his son, initially arrested, will not face charges.

Arkete Davis, 53, the father of a 10-year-old boy who allegedly shot and killed another 10-year-old, has been charged with multiple offenses including child endangerment, having a firearm as a felon, and destroying evidence.
The 10-year-old son, who initially was arrested on suspicion of murder, will not face charges as prosecutors believe the sole criminal liability lies with Davis.
The incident occurred when the boy found his father's loaded gun in a car, bragged about his father owning a gun, and then shot the victim, Keith Frierson, also 10.
Davis is accused of trying to cover up the crime by disposing of the loaded gun in a trash can.
Davis, who has a criminal history over the past 30 years, could face up to 10 years and four months in prison if a great bodily injury enhancement is added to the child endangerment charge.
