Father of Slain Palestinian American Boy Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit

The lawsuit alleges that the suburban Chicago landlord targeted the family due to their Muslim faith and in response to the Israel-Hamas conflict.

  • Oday Al-Fayoume, father of a 6-year-old Palestinian American boy who was fatally stabbed, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the suburban Chicago landlord charged in the attack.
  • The attack, which authorities allege was a hate crime, left Al-Fayoume's son dead and the boy's mother seriously wounded.
  • The lawsuit names Joseph Czuba, his wife, Mary Czuba, both of Plainfield, and their property management company, Discerning Property Management.
  • Authorities allege that Czuba targeted the family because of their Muslim faith and as a response to the war between Israel and Hamas.
  • The Czubas do not yet have an attorney in the wrongful death case and Mary Czuba has filed paperwork to divorce Joseph Czuba.
