FBI Unwittingly Used Controversial Spyware Tool from Israeli Firm NSO Without Oversight

The FBI contracted with Riva Networks to use its Landmark spying tool, unaware it was from NSO.
Once aware, the FBI canceled the Riva contract after finding they had used Landmark without authorization in Mexico.
It's unclear why the FBI hired Riva or provided little oversight on the Landmark tool's use.
Other agencies like the DEA may have also worked with Riva to deploy Landmark.
Despite blacklisting, NSO continues profiting from its controversial hacking tools.
