The Rosenberg Frito-Lay facility currently operates seven manufacturing lines that produce Lay's potato chips, Tostitos, Doritos, Cheetos, Baked Cheetos, Fritos and Tostitos Scoops. The Food and Drug Administration this week upgraded the recall of Frito-Lay's Tostitos Cantina-style corn chips to the agency's most severe classification.

Overview

  • The FDA has elevated the recall of Tostitos Cantina Traditional Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips to a Class I designation, its most severe risk category.
  • The recall involves mislabeled 13-ounce bags that may contain nacho cheese chips with undeclared milk, a major allergen.
  • Approximately 1,300 bags were distributed across 13 U.S. states and online retailers starting March 7, 2025.
  • No allergic reactions have been reported to date, but consumers with milk allergies are urged to dispose of the affected products immediately.
  • This is the second Frito-Lay recall involving undeclared milk allergens in recent months, raising concerns about allergen labeling and quality control.
