Federal Judge Orders American Airlines and JetBlue to End Partnership

A partnership between American Airlines and JetBlue Airways called the Northeast Alliance must end within 30 days according to a federal judge's ruling.
The Biden administration argued the partnership reduced competition, raised airfares and hurt consumers in violation of antitrust laws.
American Airlines and JetBlue said the partnership allowed them to better compete against larger rivals like Delta Air Lines and United Airlines and added new routes and flights.
The ruling is a blow to JetBlue which has sought to expand rapidly and a setback for both airlines which have already sold tickets for the busy summer travel season.
The airlines are expected to appeal the decision but must comply with ending the partnership in the meantime.
