Figure Skating Tribute Honors Victims of D.C. Plane Crash

The 'Legacy on Ice' event featured performances by skating legends and raised funds for families and first responders impacted by the January tragedy.

The 'Legacy on Ice' tribute was held at Washington, D.C.'s Capital One Arena to honor the 67 victims of the January 29 midair collision over the Potomac River, including 28 members of the U.S. figure skating community.
Olympic champions Kristi Yamaguchi and Brian Boitano co-hosted the event, which featured performances by over 40 current and former U.S. skating stars, including Ilia Malinin, Amber Glenn, and Johnny Weir.
Maxim Naumov delivered an emotional performance to his late parents’ favorite song, collapsing in tears afterward, while 13-year-old Isabella Aparicio skated in memory of her father and brother lost in the crash.
The event also included tributes to first responders, with hundreds in attendance, and raised funds for victims' families to support therapy, education, and other needs.
Organizers and participants emphasized the skating community’s resilience and unity, with the event broadcast live and set for an encore airing on NBC later this month.
