Fishing Boat Catches Fire Off Alibaug Coast, All Crew Rescued

A fire engulfed a fishing boat near Alibaug in the early hours of Friday, with 18-20 crew members safely rescued by authorities.

A fishing boat caught fire between 3 and 4 a.m. on Friday, approximately 6-7 nautical miles off the Akshi coast in Alibaug, Maharashtra.
The Indian Coast Guard, Navy, and local authorities responded promptly to rescue all 18-20 crew members on board, with no reported injuries or casualties.
Preliminary investigations suggest a possible short circuit as the cause of the fire, which may have been exacerbated by the boat's fishnet catching fire.
Visuals from the incident show the boat engulfed in flames and heavy smoke, with 80% of the vessel reportedly destroyed.
The boat, owned by Rakesh Murti Gand of Sakarakshi village, was brought to shore as firefighting efforts continued.
